This facility will produce wood-based biochemicals, contributing to the replacement of fossil chemicals with recyclable alternatives. Mammoet, serving as the project’s general contractor, has played a crucial role in facilitating the construction process. Leveraging their expertise in heavy lifting and transport, Mammoet’s engineers have provided efficient solutions for transporting and installing large components such as columns, tanks, and silo roofs. The installation of ten columns, each weighing between 5 and 170 tons, required meticulous planning to navigate the confined construction site. Mammoet’s innovative engineering ensured safe and precise positioning, even in tight spaces. Transporting 20 GPI tanks, each weighing 21 tons and standing 23 meters tall, presented unique challenges. Mammoet’s transport study identified the optimal route and method for transporting the tanks upright, with careful consideration given to stability and clearance. Special rigging techniques were employed for lifting the 30-meter diameter silo roofs, minimizing the risk of material deformation. Mammoet’s flexible approach allowed for adjustments to the installation sequence, ensuring adherence to project timelines. Jonas Bartzschke, Branch Manager at Mammoet in Leuna, Germany, emphasizes the company’s pride in contributing to this groundbreaking project. Mammoet’s involvement not only facilitated the construction process but also exemplified their commitment to sustainability in the chemical industry. As construction progresses, the UPM Leuna biorefinery promises to usher in a new era of sustainability, marking a significant milestone in the transition towards eco-friendly chemical production. #Construction #Mammoet #Cranes #MoveItMagazine

Wupper Bridge Replacement With Liebherr Cranes READ YOUR FREE COPY HERE: https://moveitmagazine.com/2024/01/29/wupper-bridge-replacement-with-liebherr-cranes/ The damaged Hammesberg Wupper Bridge, constructed in 1965, is undergoing replacement due to severe damage. The bridge, closed to vehicles over 30 tonnes, faced a speed limit of 30 km/h. To minimize closure time, a prefabricated parts construction method was chosen. Two Liebherr mobile cranes, an LTM 1650-8.1 from Autokrane Schares GmbH and an LTM 1450-8.1 from Dornseiff Autokrane & Schwertransporte GmbH, performed tandem lifts to place eight 85-tonne precast concrete elements onto the abutments over the Wupper. The unique tandem lift involved the LTM 1650-8.1 lifting parts from one side of the river, reaching its lifting capacity limit. The LTM 1450-8.1, positioned on the other side, took over, with technicians in a safety cage attaching the hook to a special triangular crossbeam. Schares project manager Eric Reichmann highlighted the necessity of this approach, stating that even an 800-tonne crane wouldn’t have sufficed due to space constraints. The tandem lift, utilizing a 160-tonne triangular crossbeam and an additional mobile crane, successfully installed eight 32-meter-long reinforced concrete girders across the Wupper in two days. The bridge is expected to reopen to traffic in the spring. #Liebherr #LTM1650-8.1 #LTM1450-8.1 #MoveItMagazine

Liebherr Tower Crane Floats In Air For Unprecedented Bridge Construction READ YOUR FREE COPY HERE: https://moveitmagazine.com/2023/12/14/liebherr-tower-crane-floats-in-air-for-unprecedented-bridge-construction/ In a pioneering project in Wittenberge, Germany, a Liebherr 125 EC-B 6 tower crane seems to defy gravity as it stands on a platform attached to the side of a new bridge. The challenge arises from the bridge’s proximity to a nature reserve, necessitating minimal space usage. This innovative approach marks the first of its kind in Germany. The tower crane, equipped with a hook height of 16.5 meters and a jib length of 42.5 meters, advances with the bridge’s construction, staying at roughly the same height as the bridge’s top edge. Supported by three Liebherr 81 K.1 fast-erecting cranes, the project showcases a unique collaboration between technology and environmental considerations. The construction site’s small footprint aligns with the nature conservation area’s requirements. Supplied by Hüffermann Krandienst GmbH and contracted by Implenia, the crane is a vital component of a bridge construction project that involves assembling segments on land and pushing them across the Elbe to respective support piers. With 9,000 tonnes of steel, the bridge surpasses the Eiffel Tower’s weight, comprising 20-meter-long components manufactured in Saxony. Part of the A 14 motorway expansion, the bridge, set to open in 2026, will be the longest of the entire northward extension. However, the full motorway section is expected to be open to traffic by 2028, making it Germany’s largest ongoing motorway construction project. #Liebherr #TowerCranes #Construction #MoveItMagazine

Versailles-Inspired Eco-District ‘Parc Du Lac’ Takes Shape With Liebherr READ YOUR FREE COPY HERE: https://moveitmagazine.com/2023/12/05/versailles-inspired-eco-district-parc-du-lac-takes-shape-with-liebherr/ An eco-friendly residential district, named ‘Parc du Lac,’ is underway near Versailles, France, on historic grounds featuring a 17th-century canal from the Palace of Versailles’ former water supply system. Liebherr tower cranes, including models such as the 340 EC-B 16 and 205 EC-B 10, are actively constructing energy-efficient buildings on ten hectares of land near the ‘Lac de la Sourderie’ lake in Voisins-le-Bretonneux. Cobat Constructions, the responsible construction company, utilizes seven Liebherr tower cranes with distinctive blue and red paintwork. The project, initiated in April 2021, is set for completion in 2024, providing more than 500 apartments, commercial spaces, and public facilities, including a crèche, community center, and sports center. The cranes, operational since June 2022, boast hook heights ranging from 40 to 75 meters, with lifting capacities of up to 16 tonnes. The historic canal at the heart of the Parc-du-Lac district is a well-preserved remnant of the Palace of Versailles’ gardens’ water supply system, adding a unique historical touch to this modern residential development, strategically located 25 kilometers from Paris and ten kilometers from Versailles. #Liebherr #TowerCranes #CobatConstructions #MoveItMagazine

WOLFF Crane Transforms Vienna’s Patent Office With Botanical Precision READ YOUR FREE COPY HERE: https://moveitmagazine.com/2023/09/25/wolff-crane-transforms-viennas-patent-office-with-botanical-precision/ Vienna’s skyline is graced by the presence of the WOLFF 8060.25 Cross crane, currently playing a pivotal role in the extensive renovation of the European Patent Office building, situated not far from the iconic Belvedere Palace. This ambitious project, conceptualized by ATP architekten ingenieure and executed by the accomplished PORR construction company, places a strong emphasis on environmental sustainability, making the crane’s assembly and operation a crucial element in preserving the surrounding ecosystem. The unique challenge presented by this endeavor was the crane’s placement within Vienna’s densely populated and bustling Landstraße district. The crane found its temporary home within the confines of the botanical garden at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna. The architects, construction teams, and Wolffkran specialists worked closely together to develop an eco-conscious assembly plan that would leave the lush garden virtually unscathed. In fact, only a single tree and a hedge needed to be carefully transplanted to make way for the massive crane. Given the restricted space within the botanical garden, a mobile crane with a 450-ton capacity and a top attachment was employed to erect the WOLFF 8060.25 Cross. Zeljko Tenjovic, Managing Director of Wolffkran Austria GmbH, highlighted the critical role of coordination with the transport company due to limited on-site storage for crane components. Despite challenging weather conditions and shorter daylight hours, the crane stood tall in just four days. Its dismantling will follow a similar expedited process during the upcoming January school holidays. Boasting an impressive 80-meter jib length and a lifting capacity of 7.0 tons, the WOLFF 8060.25 Cross reigns as Austria’s most powerful construction crane. This extraordinary strength is harnessed to transport materials, equipment, and even hefty prefabricated elements, such as entire staircases, between Prätoriusgasse and the construction site. This approach significantly reduces the need to utilize the construction road through the botanical garden, aligning perfectly with the project’s environmental conservation goals. The renovation of the European Patent Office’s 50-year-old building goes beyond aesthetics. It is designed to be climate-positive, featuring heat recovery systems, a rooftop photovoltaic system, and the integration of sustainable wooden elements. When the renovation reaches completion at the close of 2024, the building is anticipated to produce more energy than it consumes, marking a significant milestone in sustainable construction practices. #WOLFF #Cranes #WOLFF8060.25 #MoveItMagazine

Vienna’s Mariahilfer Straße To Welcome New Shopping Destination With Wolffkran Cranes READ YOUR FREE COPY HERE: https://moveitmagazine.com/2023/07/13/viennas-with-wolffkran-cranes/ Vienna’s bustling Mariahilfer Straße, known as “Mahü” to locals, is set to introduce a new shopping destination. The Lamarr department store, named after Austrian film icon Hedy Lamarr, will be constructed on the site of the former Leiner furniture store. The modern yet traditional-style department store will include a hotel, restaurants, and a publicly accessible green roof garden. To build the structure, Austrian contractor Habau Hoch- und Tiefbaugesellschaft purchased a WOLFF 8033.16 Cross crane, which will work alongside two other WOLFF cranes. The construction of the building shell is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Due to the location’s high foot traffic in downtown Vienna, a unique crane solution was necessary. Wolffkran devised a crane concept where the WOLFF 8033.16 was first erected using a mobile crane. This crane was then employed to install the WOLFF 7532.16 Cross, which, in turn, erected the flattop WOLFF 6023.8 Clear crane. This strategic approach minimized the use of a mobile crane on the busy shopping street. Overcoming challenges, such as limited space and neighboring buildings, required careful planning and coordination with Wolffkran. The cranes were installed at the beginning of 2022 and have been crucial in transporting concrete, formwork, and reinforcement for the construction of the in-situ concrete shell. However, the most challenging phase awaits when the final crane needs to be dismantled. Due to the tight construction space, the WOLFF 7532.16 and the WOLFF 6023.8 cannot be dismantled using a mobile crane. The WOLFF 7532.16 will first dismantle the WOLFF 6023.8, and then the 8033.16 will dismantle the 7532.16. This process involves splitting the 13-tonne counter jib into two parts, requiring careful handling and support structures. Habau and Wolffkran have a long-standing collaboration and have worked on various projects together. The Lamarr project is expected to be completed by 2024, joining their portfolio of successful endeavors, such as the Harbor Portal in Linz and the Vienna Twenty Two residential quarter. #WolffkranCranes #WOLFF #Construction #MoveItMagazine

Liebherr Crane Takes To The Skies: Helicopter Assembly Overcomes Construction Challenges In Bratislava READ YOUR FREE COPY HERE: https://moveitmagazine.com/2023/07/10/liebherr-crane-takes-to-the-skies/ In a remarkable display of ingenuity, Liebherr dealer Kranimex and heavy haulage specialist Tech-Mont tackle the obstacle of restricted access in Bratislava, Slovakia by employing an unconventional assembly method. A 40 LC top-slewing crane is airlifted into the city center via helicopter to aid in the construction of new apartments. The project site, located in a burgeoning area with limited road access, presented unique challenges, including protruding edges of neighboring buildings and the disruption caused by tram traffic. A conventional assembly method using a mobile crane would have necessitated the suspension of public transport and the costly dismantling and reinstallation of tram power lines. However, the collaboration between Kranimex and Tech-Mont found an innovative solution in helicopter assembly. Over the course of two days, using an MI-8T helicopter with a lifting capacity of three tonnes, the crane components, including tower sections, jib, and counter jib, were carefully transported from a temporary storage location near the Danube to the construction site, flying over the city’s rooftops. With eleven flights in total, even the heaviest crane part, a 2,750-kilogram slewing platform, was effortlessly lifted into place. Skilled service fitters from Kranimex received the airlifted components and completed the assembly of the top-slewing crane. Patrik Šeba, service fitter from Liebherr dealer Kranimex, emphasizes the significance of strong and reliable teamwork in achieving this exceptional assembly, having previously collaborated with Tech-Mont on two other projects. The Liebherr 40 LC crane, with a hook height of 30 meters and a jib spanning just under 25 meters, boasts a maximum lifting capacity of 4,000 kilograms. To optimize space, the crane is mounted on foundation anchors and features the narrow 63 LC tower system, with external dimensions of only 1.2 x 1.2 meters. Despite being built in 2006, the top-slewing crane continues to demonstrate its reliability, a testament to the exceptional quality and durability of Liebherr machines. Expected to remain in operation until the end of 2023 for the residential project in Bratislava’s city center, the crane’s compact dimensions allow it to navigate the site effortlessly, facilitating various lifting operations such as the movement of bricks and concrete. Once its work is complete, the crane will be dismantled by helicopter, making its return journey over the rooftops of Bratislava. #Kranimex #Liebherr #40C #helicopter #MoveItMagazine
